Lets start off by saying this game plays totally diffrent then the PRIDE and UFC series. What I mean instead of combining punch and kick to grapple you use forward forward(dash) R1 to lock in grapples. The mechanics are diffrent in this game as the dash technique is used alot to execute strikes and shoots and there is a block button (L1). In other MMA games where you hold the joystick away from the opponent to block this feature changes the whole dynamic of the game. As far as positioning goes in the game they include a standing clinch, mount, guard, north and south and stand and down. I have yet to fight someone on there back and go for RNC's and stuff like that. The button scheme is pretty much the same as PRIDE, UFC and K-1 games as square is the left hand triangle is right hand x is left kick and circle is right kick. Pushing forward forward (dash) and the two punch buttons square and triangle(also R1) shoots in for double legs, pushing down down R1 does a standing clinch . Going for a submission in the game is tough, you have to do considerable damage via ground and pound and watch a panic meter once the panic meter starts going out of control from there you can go to side mount, full mount or a submission or you have to properly time a catch kinda like the UFC and PRIDE games of the past. If someone shoots in on you and you tap R1 it gets them in a standing guillotine where you can land deadly knees. Even someone turtled up can be on the receiving end of some kness (not allowed in the UFC). One of the many cool things about this game are the submissions, if someones on top of your guard pounding you and you catch a punch you put them in an omoplata and when you stun somebody on mount and go for a submission you choke them out unconcious meaning no tapping which I thought was pretty cool.(they do tap to armbars) FIGHTERS IN GAME- ---------------------- MMA Bob Sapp Don Frye Gary Goodridge Sam Greco Genki Sudo Kazuyuki Fujita Shinsuke Nakamura Manabu Nagashi Josh Barnett Yoshihiro Takayama Kid Yamamoto Yoshihiro Akiyama Caol Uno K-1 Musashi Peter Aerts Alexey Ignashov Francisco Filho Jerome Le Banner Hiromi Amada Akebono Ernesto Hoost Ray Sefo Butterbean Masato Nobuaki Kakuda Getting around the game takes some getting used to, since all the menus are pretty much all Japanese. One other cool thing they have in this game is the 15kg rule( if a fighter is 15kg heavier than the other fighter the lighter fighter has the choice to use knees on the ground or not) so you have a choice to turn on or off. All fighters can be used in MMA mode once you finish accomplishing the challenge mode.  The entrances and ring walks are better than PRIDE FC. And there is Japenese commentary in the game and its really cool to here them say "backa spinu kicku". This game is one of many MMA videogames that I ordered online so lookout for other reviews. Overall the learning curve of the game is kinda hard, but the graphics are phenomanal for PS2 standards, the submissions look painful as hell and the KO's are nasty. For an MMA game this game has it pretty much all. Out of a 10 I will give it a 7/10 I would of gave it a seven and half but there is no create a player/career mode. I would pick this game up for sure especially if your an MMA videogame fan like me. If theres any questions, comments or feedback to this review please post. Just got this game and it's really good, i'm surprised about how good it is. it's hard to find information about this game on the internet, the only review i've found was yours and i thought i should give it a shot. The first thing that really surprised me was how good the striking system is. It's as fluid as K-1 world grand prix 2003 if not more... So the striking system is really good for this type of game, better than Pride FC imo... The game has a realistic pace and i love how you need to setup the opening with your strikes before a double leg takedown. Each opponents have their own strengths and weaknesses. Sometime you will find that it's better to counter strike or to go on a non-stop striking contest with some fighters and for others you need to take it to the ground as soon as possible. Forward + r1 does a double leg takedown (you don't need to tap square+triangle like in pride FC) i really love the ground game and how the panic meter is used, you can't just do your things right away, switch positions to side mount or full mount from the start like in other games of that type, in this game you need to work your opponent, strike him and watch his panic meter go faster and faster, when it's at full speed you can switch position or go for a submission attempt. I haven't seen any rear naked chokes yet. But i just got this game so it might be in. I don't find the entrances better than PRIDE FC, they are shorter, you don't see the fighters get in the ring as the entrances are cut half way down the ramp. This game is not on a DVD but on a CD and it's really impressive to see how much they could put onto a 700mb disc, the textures are as optimized as optimized can possibly be, yet it's not ugly at all, the overall shininess of the game and how it reflects on the models makes up for it. It only makes me think, if they could do such a good game on a small cd, how good it could have been if they have used a dvd and not cut everything down for the sake of brutal optimization so it can fit on such a small disc. I would love to see a translation guide for this game, but it's so obscure and unknown, i doubt such a guide will ever be made. Overall i really enjoy the game and i don't think i would have bought it if it wasn't because of your review Andy GZ, so thank you! got it brand new from ebay for 25$ and i'm happy to have it in my collection. I hope my english was good enough for you guys, i'm a french canadian "like GSP", so if i've said anything wrong please tell me so i can make better posts in the near future and improve my english. It looks really cool but looks more like fighting game with some MMA elements. In other words mostly stand-up action with subs and takedowns being used to wear your opponent down (no instant taps). Im not posative but it doesnt look like you can hold your opponent down once you get them on the ground. Either way it looks pretty bad ass. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Cosmic Crippler)Tue, 27 May 2008 00:03:22 +0000 Re: K-1 PREMIUM 2005 Dynamite!!https://bmmagamer.runboard.com/p158,from=rss#post158https://bmmagamer.runboard.com/p158,from=rss#post158quote:Andy GZ wrote: quote:Cosmic Crippler wrote: Any chance of getting any gameplay footage? Thanks for that review. I have been wondering if there was an MMA mode in there. Other than the translation thing it sounds pretty awesome. I might have get my ps2 modded. Two questions.. 1) What method did you use for Modding your pS2 2) How much did you pay for the game? I really appreciate your feedback. Getting back to your questions It really depends on which PS2 you have, I have a slim PS2 model and you need to convert your cover (the little door that opens for the CD's) and get a swap disk and your all set. As far as big bulky older version of the PS2 there is a way of doing that as well, I just dont know how but I can find out. I paid $40.00 to mod my PS2 I paid I think $35.00 for the game off E-BAY and it was well worth it. Just to play as Kid Yamamoto pays for itself. Any other questions I will be more than happy to answer.
